Ceci n'est pas Baroque or, "This is not Baroque" is a group formed by three viol players who combine their instruments and their baroque music with other non-historical music styles but equally full of beauty and harmony.

The name of the project is taken from the famous Magritte's painting Ceci n’est pas une pipe, to underline the idea that, although they represent baroque music, it is not baroque music: the players aren't actually baroque. Through their ears, past music has been heard, and, above all, later music that makes it impossible to recreate a historical interpretation/playing. But Ceci n’est pas Baroque considers this as a virtue, and that's the reason why it uses the fact as a identity sign; the public isn't baroque either and we the music has to get to them.

Daring to offer a different mise-en-scene, they combine their music with image projection, singing and poetry.

It is not Baroque, although it seems like it and represent it, sometimes sounding like that. Early music pieces and others that would perfectly be without truly being it. Consonances that turn to dissonances like a lump in your stomach, to then return back to another consonance and leave you breathe again. Travels and harmonic searches created by the voices and viols.
